Can I Eat Medium Steak While Pregnant? The Answer Will Surprise You!

Last night my husband decided to take me to a romantic dinner. The reason for that is the news we received that I am in the second month of my pregnancy. Overjoyed by the good news, we got dressed and decided to go out to dinner. We sat down at the restaurant and started looking at the menu in front of us. I suddenly got the urge to order a medium steak. But, I realized that I still did not have enough research on the foods I can consume during pregnancy. I immediately asked myself the question can I eat medium steak while pregnant? The waiter looked at me with an apology and said that he knew nothing about the food that pregnant women can eat. Therefore, I decided to do short research that would answer my question.

I decided to share the answer to my question with all of you who may be wondering the same thing. To cut a long story short, I wrote this text just for you!

An Answer to the Question Can I Eat Medium Steak While Pregnant?

Medium Steak While Pregnant – Yes or No?

The answer to this question is definitely no. Although you may have previously enjoyed your meat being pink or red, pregnancy is definitely not the time to eat undercooked meat. Remember that this applies to all types of meat. This is because undercooked meat can contain bacteria and parasites; these include escherichia coli, salmonella, or trichinella. All of these types of bacteria cause very bad variants of food poisoning that can have fatal consequences for your baby’s health. Namely, pregnant women are especially susceptible to such infections. This is because their immunity is significantly weakened during pregnancy; this makes them a 20 times more risky group susceptible to such poisoning than other average people.

Food poisoning may not have huge negative consequences for the mother; however, it will certainly have huge negative and side effects on the health of the unborn baby. In that case, the ultimate instance that no one wants to happen to is miscarriage. If the unborn baby survives this food poisoning, it does not mean that there will be no consequences later in life. In general, when babies are born, for the first two months they do not show any symptoms of the catastrophic consequences of food poisoning while they are in their mother’s womb. But after the second month, they can start showing symptoms. These include visual impairment, hearing impairment, brain damage, and learning difficulties. So remember, medium steak while pregnant? No, thank you!

Medium Well Steak While Pregnant – Yes or No?

Now, this is a slightly different situation. Medium well steak while pregnant is allowed but under slightly more rigorous circumstances. I understand that you do not want your meat to be dry, and medium well is only allowed if there minimal pink color inside the steak and it is allowed only if you follow the following few rules that I will explain briefly. Because you are pregnant, you are allowed to play a diva who requires special treatment in restaurants. So, the next time you go to a restaurant, ask the chefs a few requests.

The first thing you need to do is ask the cook to use a thermometer to check the temperature of the steak. Many cooks do this out of experience; however, ask them to do it with a thermometer because you are pregnant and it is extremely important for you and your unborn baby.

The second thing is that the cook must ensure that the internal temperature of the steak after cooking is exactly 145 degrees Faraday. This is very important because it is the minimum required temperature for the destruction of bacteria and parasites that may be found in the meat and which can cause a number of problems for your health and the health of your unborn baby.

The third thing you need to do is cut the steak in half after it is brought to you. Remember, if it is ready at the right temperature, it should be minimally pink in the middle. That pink color should never move to the outside of the steak! In no case should the inside of the steak be red; even worse, in no case should there be blood inside the steak!

Can I Eat Medium Rare Steak While Pregnant – Yes or No?

Although the answer to this question is understood after everything we said above, to be sure of what we eat I will also answer the question can I eat medium-rare steak while pregnant? The answer is that you absolutely must not eat medium-rare steak while pregnant! As we have said, undercooked meat can contain bacteria and parasites that can have catastrophic consequences for your health and the health of your unborn baby! Meat, for example, can be infected with the Toxoplasma parasite, which can enter your placenta and cause irreparable damage! Therefore, it is best to refrain from some cravings and turn your attention to other foods that have benefits for your health and the good development of the baby.

There are a lot of dilemmas in pregnant women about what food should be eaten and what food should not be eaten during pregnancy. Here I am a simple example. At the restaurant, I suddenly remembered that some foods were not allowed and I researched in detail. When it comes to undercooked meat then there is no dilemma. You ask yourself the question can I eat medium steak while pregnant? Your answer is no, without a doubt! During pregnancy, limit yourself from eating undercooked meat. The countless bacteria and parasites that are found in meat can cause huge damage to your health and the health of your baby.

It is an indisputable fact that meat is one of the main and most important sources of protein and that you should consume it. However, during pregnancy, make sure that the meat is perfectly cooked and leave nothing to chance!
