Crab Cakes – The Easiest Recipe

It was my husband’s birthday the other day. We have been planning for a whole week where he will celebrate it, with whom he will celebrate it. The difficult decision of what kind of food there will be at the birthday party was left to me. I thought for a long time and I knew that I do not want to have some dishes that take a long time to prepare. I knew I wanted to have dishes that would be individual portions; ones that would be easy to make and that would not take me long to make. And suddenly I remembered! I will make crab cakes!

This easy dish to prepare dominated the theme of the birthday celebration. I decided that the dishes that will be served at the birthday party should be seafood dishes. I was simply delighted with these dishes so I decided to share my knowledge and recipe with you.

Let’s Discover the Secrets of the Crab Cakes!

What Are Crab Cakes?

In general, crab cakes are dishes that are very popular in the United States. They are especially dominant in areas where the crab industry is very developed. This dish is a mixture of ingredients, in which the main component is crab meat; additional ingredients include mayonnaise, bread crumbs, and a huge number of spices are added. What is interesting about this dish is that it can be prepared according to the personal desire of the cook; i.e these cakes can be fried, baked, boiled and even steamed.

Also, a positive thing is that in these crab cakes no additional fillers are placed; i.e the cake is made exclusively from crab meat. The so-called blue crab meat is traditionally used and is a trademark of Maryland and Virginia. So, the most famous type of this dish is called Maryland crab cake.

Easy Crab Cake Recipe

I believe that you have all been looking forward to this part of the text, i.e the part in which I will tell you a secret- easy crab cake recipe! The ingredients you need to make this dish are the following: 1lb. crab meat, 1/3 c. mayonnaise, 1 large size egg, 2 tbsp mustard, 2 tsp Worcestershire sauce, ½ tsp hot sauce, ¾ c. bread crumbs, 2 tbsp fresh parsley, kosher salt, ground black pepper, canola oil, lemon, and tartar sauce. Now pay attention to the preparation procedure. Put the mayonnaise, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, hot sauce in a deep bowl and add salt and pepper. In another deep bowl, place the crab meat, bread crumbs, and parsley.

Fold into the mayonnaise mixture and make 8 patties from the mixture you have. Take a pan and place it on the hob. Add the frying oil and wait for the oil to heat up nicely. Then put the crab patties to fry. Fry until they turn yellow-golden, i.e from 3 to 5 minutes per side. Take out the ready-made crab cakes and serve them! Position the cakes in the middle of the plate, decorated on one side with the lemon with which the cakes can be sprayed if anyone wants, and on the other side serve the tartar sauce which is the best friend of the crab cakes.

What to Serve with Crab Cakes?

The next logical question is what to serve with crab cakes as a side dish. Do not worry, I will give you an answer to this question. As we have already said, tartar sauce is the best friend of this dish, but if you want things to look more elegant then we recommend you to make remoulade sauce. To make this sauce you will need mayonnaise, mustard, ketchup, garlic, horseradish, lemon juice, onion, capers, parsley, Cajun, and hot pepper sauce. The second side dish we recommend to serve with the crab cakes is the widely known tomato gazpacho.

Again, this is hot food in which the crab cake is immersed, with the difference that this sauce is hot. To make the tomato gazpacho you need the following ingredients: old crustless bread, water, tomatoes, cucumber, celery, onion, garlic, green bell pepper, olive oil, lemon juice, mint leaves, salt, sugar, cilantro, pepper, and cayenne pepper.

The third option that you can use as a side dish is the roasted vegetables in the oven. All you have to do is choose which vegetables you want to eat and prepare them. Once you have decided which vegetables you want to make, cut them into pieces, put them in a pan, sprinkle them with olive oil, add salt and various spices that suit you. Bake for 30 minutes, and halfway through the baking time, turn the vegetables over to make sure both sides of the vegetables are nicely baked.

And as a fourth option, we always have the classic green salad, which not only has a wonderful taste but with its color and greens the landscape of serving food. Take lettuce, cabbage, spinach, carrots, onions, tomatoes, and even cheese. Chop them, mix them together, add oil, salt, and spices, and the side dish is ready!

In general, the crab cakes are made in those elite restaurants and are served in an elite way, with elite side dishes. That is why many people think that it is too difficult to make this dish and serve it. But, as you saw from the recipe I gave you, there is no very difficult philosophy in making this dish. All you need is concentration and goodwill. I made them for my husband’s birthday and believe me, in a very short time the plates were already empty and everyone was asking me where I had ordered them from because they liked them too much and could not believe that I had made them myself.
